"The surrounding neighborhood is a source of fascination, and the artist takes regular walks and photographs the environs. These experiences and collected materials are the basis of his diaristic engagement with the adjacent urban landscape. The hand-painted signs, the graffiti, and the contents of the thrift shop next door (where he gets some of his bits of fabric) are among the elements that have infiltrated his art."

Nick Aguayo (b. 1984, Palm Springs, CA) received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2007 and his Master of Fine Arts from University of California, Irvine in 2012. 

Aguayo has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Miles McEnery Gallery, New York, NY; Vielmetter Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA; and the Undergraduate Art Gallery, University of California, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA.
